My approach on providing mental health services is centered around gaining the trust of each individual or family that I am working with.  This is accomplished in part by meeting routinely with the family in a setting where they are most comfortable. Although, when I initially meet with a new family, I will typically use my office space for an evaluation and to see if I am a good candidate for the family.

Following the initial visit, I like to meet with individuals in their home, where they will likely be at ease. I have found some families are more comfortable meeting at my office space even after the first meeting, as it can be seen as a “neutral area” where they can be free of distractions and anchored feelings.  Ultimately, my goal is for everyone to be as comfortable as possible, so I will hold meetings with clients wherever that may be.  

I have been living in the Flathead Valley since 2005, and working with families at the Flathead Youth Home, helping them with a wide variety of difficult issues.  During that time I had the opportunity to play many roles working with families, including coping with stress and anxiety, navigating the complex emotional turmoil of being in the legal system, working with addiction recovery, helping to form healthy attachments amongst loved ones, and modeling healthy family relationships.

I attained my Master’s degree from the University of Montana with a focus on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I continue to keep my primary focus on helping children and families work through the struggles that often arise when there is a disruption in their family dynamic. My approach is strength-based and focused on the individual, weaving in concepts from the Circle of Courage to help each individual and family realize their best selves.
